TIGERS BEAT RED DEVILS 6-5 IN OVERTIME

The Wheaton Warrenville South Tigers defeated the Hinsdale Central Red Devils 6-5 in sudden death overtime on Saturday, April 24 at Dickinson Filed. The first half was a defensive dual and at 4:07 in the second quarter the Tigers took a 2-0 lead. With 26 seconds remaining on the clock in the first half, sophomore Brendan Flaherty scored his first varsity career goal on a senior Peter Santulli helper. The Tigers scored two consecutive goals in the third quarter to take a 4-1 lead. With 39 seconds left on the third quarter clock Santulli scored an extra man goal on a junior Sean Embree assist. Twenty seconds later the Tigers responded to take a 5-2 lead.__In the fourth quarter, Hinsdale fought back hard and manged to shut down the Tigers offense. Hinsdale ran a motion offense and scored three unanswered goals to tie the score at 5-5 with six minutes of regulation play left as junior Hunter White fed senior Kevin Coveny who found the back of the net. During the contest, the Red Devils were able to score on three of four extra man opportunities.__Senior Red Devil goalie Eddie Coyle had an outstanding contest as he managed to save 11 of 17 Tiger shots on goal, while causing 2 turnovers and scooping up 2 ground balls. The defensive field team had a terrific afternoon led by seniors Mike Tenerelli, Jack Traeger and Bill Ryan and juniors Matt Lord, Evan Roglich and sophomore Cole Potkul.__The Red Devils scoring summary: Santulli (2 goals, 2 assists), Embree (1 goal, 1 assist), Flaherty (1 goal), Coveny (1 goal) and White (1 assist)._
