Jordan Crist Memorial
Scholarship
The Jordan Crist Memorial Scholarship is intended to honor the name of Jordan Crist, an All-west Suburban Silver Lacrosse goalie and Hinsdale Central Alumnus, who passed away his freshman year at SMU due to complications associated with diabetes insipidus.
This scholarship will be awarded to a senior lacrosse player and is intended to be used for college expenses. There are no contingencies associated with the award other than it being applied to legitimate college expenses.
Jordan was a fine young man, and his scholarship is intended to recognize a person on the lacrosse team who most reflects his attributes. Jordan wasnÕt the best athlete on the team, but his sense of fairness, teamwork, compassion for others (particularly younger players), unselfishness, and respect for the game were apparent to those who played with him. Mike Waldron (his Head Coach) summarized the qualities he saw in Jordan from a coachÕs perspective:
Leadership – ÒJordan was a quiet leader who led by his actions. As a mentor to the younger players, Jordan instilled a great deal of confidence and knowledge.Ó
Sportsmanship – ÒJordan never said anything to another opponent besides Ôgood gameÕ or Ônice shot.Õ Jordan would just go about his business.Ó
Confidence – ÒJordanÕs best games always came against our top opponents. He had the confidence to play against the top competition and always rose to the occasion.Ó
Resilience – Jordan never had two bad games back to back. If he didnÕt do well in one game, heÕd always come back stronger the next game.Ó
The Trustees of the Jordan Crist Memorial Scholarship fund are the immediate members of the Crist Family. The Advisory Board is made up of nine friends and fellow lacrosse teammates from Hinsdale Central High School Class of 2006. This group has an appreciation for the spirit behind the scholarship. The selection process starts with the nomination of three seniors by the Coaching Staff. Each member of the team has one vote in a secret ballot to name the recipient.
