Your Webmaster is Retiring
Yep, sorry. Time to pass the scripts on to someone else. I would like to find a volunteer before the season begins so that we can divide the work and allow lots of time for you to learn.
You don't need to be a programmer at all to do this. The last time I took a class in software, I had to flip the switches on the front panel of the computer by hand to set each of the bits of my assembler program into the core memory (do a google image search on core memory to see how old I really am). So, if a dinosaur like me can do it...
I have put this together using free software tools, Filezilla for uploading and Kompozer for building the pages. Filezilla automates the procedure so that it really is eight mouse clicks to load a page. Kompozer is easier to use than Word for writing the pages and, the pages it creates works with all browsers unlike the 'stuff' Word makes. So, really, if you have a PC and enough smarts to cut and paste or to create flyers, handouts, or greeting cards, you can be the webmaster. Just give me a call or drop an email, John Suprock.
Parent Participation
As a non-profit, volunteer-run organisation the Club relies on its members (beyond those who commit their time as board members or coaches) to run the organisation. It is expected that all members will commit two hours of service to the club each year.Service opportunities include:
-- filming games for the coaches and players;
-- taking photographs of the players during the games;
-- recording statistics during the game (JV and Varsity);
-- selling concessions at the home games on Dickinson Field;
-- writing the game summary for the newspaper article and website;
-- assisting with enrollment night;
-- securing sponsors for the HC Lacrosse Yearbook/CD;
-- set-up and clean-up at the annual awards banquet; and
-- participation in fundraisers and community service projects.
With your help, we can provide the players, students, and parents with the best program possible both on and off the field. Thank you for your support!
